I’ve been supporting the UK and Global Business Tech Awards for the past three years as a judge. Being part of this has given me the chance to witness the brilliance of tech entrepreneurs both in the UK and beyond, but equally, I’ve seen potentially great products and results hampered by applications that don’t make them stand out of the pack! In this blog, I’m going to share some hopefully invaluable insights to help entrants elevate their chances of standing out and securing a coveted spot at the top of the shortlist for Business Tech Awards.

Decoding the Business Tech Awards Judging Process

Before we dive into the intricacies of crafting an award-winning entry, it’s essential to unravel the mystery behind the judging process. This prestigious event evaluates entries based on specific criteria such as technological innovation, business impact, sustainability, and growth within the tech sector. As a judge, my primary responsibility is to gauge how well entrants align with these criteria, showcasing excellence in the ever-evolving field of technology.

Weaving a Tech Tale: The Power of Compelling Storytelling

One common pitfall entrants encounter is underestimating the art of storytelling within the application. Beyond mere facts and figures, a compelling narrative is the linchpin that captivates judges. Begin with a compelling opening that accentuates the uniqueness of your tech journey and business proposition. Utilise real-world examples to illustrate your technological impact and infuse a human element into your tech narrative.

Clarity in Tech Language: Communicating with Precision

While judges are well-versed in most tech terminology, clarity remains paramount. Articulate your technological achievements, goals, and the significance of your work with precision. Avoid unnecessary jargon and convoluted language. Judges appreciate entries that convey a clear message within the intricate landscape of technology.

Spotlight on Impactful Tech Innovation

Remember these awards are a celebration of technological innovation and the positive impact the application that the technology has.  Illuminate how your tech venture has pioneered ground-breaking solutions, disrupted the market, or contributed to positive technological change. Quantify your impact where possible, employing metrics and tangible outcomes to bolster your claims.

Tailoring Your Entry to Tech Excellence

. Scrutinise these criteria meticulously and tailor your submission to showcase how your tech business excels in innovation, impact, sustainability, and growth.  Spotlight the technological facets that resonate most closely with the award’s objectives.

Aesthetics Matter: Tech Presentation Tips

Your tech entry form is more than a mere document; it’s a representation of your tech brand. Ensure that your entry is concise, well-organised, and free of errors. Employ clear headings, bullet points, and visuals to dissect tech-related information, making it easier for judges to navigate. A polished presentation reflects a dedication to excellence across all aspects of your business. Oh, and don’t forget the numbers! This is where most applications fall down for me!

Seek Tech Wisdom: Feedback Before Submission

Before sealing your entry, seek feedback from colleagues, mentors, or tech industry experts. Fresh perspectives often unveil areas for improvement and assist in refining your narrative. Constructive feedback is a valuable asset in polishing your entry, ensuring it effectively communicates your technological achievements.

Conclusion: Tech Triumph at the Business Tech Awards

Entering the Business Tech Awards is a compelling journey towards recognition and validation for the hard work invested in your business. By comprehending the unique judging process, crafting a compelling story, communicating with precision with clear language, showcasing impactful innovation, tailoring your entry, paying attention to presentation, and seeking feedback, you can substantially enhance your prospects of shining in the competitive landscape of the Business Tech Awards.

Best of luck on your tech journey to recognition and success!
